PhD, Senior Arts and Crafts Artist, Director of Her Art Museum, Art and Design Curator, Museum Consultant

Research Fields: Chinese modern and contemporary art and design; post-war Western contemporary art and design; cultural planning and cultural policies and strategies of regions and cities; museum operation and management, museum architectural functions, museum education and cultural and creative derivatives.

She obtained her Master’s degree from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, and her PhD from Macau University of Science and Technology.

She is an Academic Committee Member of the China Cultural and Art Development Promotion Association, and Executive Committee Member of the Culture and Tourism Committee of the Institute for Urban and Environmental Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. She has been deeply engaged in the cultural and creative industries for over 25 years, and possesses 20 years of curatorial and managerial experience in museums of contemporary art and design.

From 2006 to 2012, she served as Deputy General Manager of Today Art Museum and Founding Executive Director of Today Design Museum during its establishment. In 2017, she served as Artistic Director of the exhibition  Art Beijing & Design Beijing . Since 2012, she has undertaken preparatory or consultancy work for multiple major museum projects in China, including Design Interconnect (a project signed by the Prime Ministers of China and the United Kingdom), Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning, Long Museum (Pudong), Yuz Museum, Red Brick Art Museum, Pingshan Art Museum, Guangdong Museum of Art New Building, and Shenzhen Bay Cultural Plaza.

She has curated numerous exhibitions and academic events in the fields of contemporary art and design, such as  Social Energy, China-UK Museum Directors  ’   Forum ,  Fang Lijun Solo Exhibition at the Macao Museum of Art ,  Beijing CBD Art Season, Beijing SKP Art Masters and Art Pioneers Series, Shenzhen Design Week,  and  Shenzhen Art Museum Three  —  Year Action Plan.

She has published multiple books (co-authored), including  Art Museum, Theory and Practice of Art Museum ,  Cultural City-Making ,  Surviving Like a Wild Dog ,  How Artists Live ,  Designing in China ,  Is Graphic Design Dead? ,  The Future Being Designed ,  Dust and Light , and  Fang Lijun Ceramics , among others. She once served as a core member (ranked third) of the National Social Science Fund Major Project  Future Development trends of Chinese Art Museums , and presided over the SFD Future Design Seed Fund Project  Research on Chinese Design in Overseas Museums . She has been supported by visiting scholar project funds from multiple international institutions, including the Goethe-Institut, Institut francais, and the British Council.
